Polar
Cubs Winter Outing
February 2010
Date: Sunday February 28, 2010
Time: 9am-3:30pm
Place: Phillippo Scout Reservation
Prepare for a day of winter adventure and outdoor learning with your Scout. Polar Cubs is a one-day winter scouting camp that includes activities like snow-tubing, broomball, obstacle courses, winter nature activities, crafts, snowshoeing, capture the flag, and snow golf. Webelos will have the opportunity to be in a special program designed just for them, focused on learning about winter survival, animals and outdoor sports. Scouts and parents will learn how to keep warm and stay dry in the snow and cold, and everyone will share a hot lunch in the camp dining hall.
This year’s Polar Cubs Camp will be held on February 28th, from 9am to 3:30pm at the Phillippo Scout Reservation in Cannon Falls, MN. Located on the south shore of the Byllesby Reservoir, three miles west of Cannon Falls, the reservation is 450 acres of rolling fields, wooded campsites and hills overlooking the Cannon River valley.
How do we sign up for Polar Cubs Camp?
Pack 479 leadership will take care of registration for Polar Cubs. However, the Camp has a limited number of spaces available each day, so we need to complete our group registration as soon as possible. In order to reserve your space, please be prepared to let your Den Leader know at the January 21st Pack Meeting whether you and your Scout will be attending this year’s Polar Cubs Camp. Every Tiger Cubs needs to have a parent or guardian with them. Higher ranks do not require a 1:1 ratio, although parents are highly encouraged to join their scout. Please also be prepared to provide a deposit of $29 per Scout and $9 per adult at that time. Your deposit will be fully refunded if you attend. If you do not attend, you will forfeit your deposit.
What will happen next?
Following the January 21st Pack Meeting we will distribute necessary health and registration forms which will need to be filled out prior to the February 28th Camp. Your Den Leader will coordinate the collection of forms.
How will we get to the Camp?
We will arrange carpooling from Cedar Ridge the day of the Camp. More information to follow as we get closer to Feb 28th.
